Our History

The story of Welding Alloys is one of passion, courage, and innovation. Our founder, Jan Stekly, was first introduced to the world of wire production while working at a wire mill during a summer holiday in Vancouver, Canada. As a Metallurgical Engineer, Jan Stekly held various positions with welding companies and soon realised that he had found his passion.

Our company was born in 1966, when Jan, with the support of his wife Cathy, courageously set out on his own and built his first fused flux crushing machine in a humble agricultural bungalow in Fowlmere, England. The flux business was an immediate success and allowed Jan to quickly expand into hardfacing wires, something for which we would ultimately become a recognised global leader and innovator.

Often described as a global citizen, a people-person, and a multi-linguist, Jan continued to expand our production capability into new continents, countries, and locations, giving the company a strong competitive advantage. Today, the business is led by Jan’s son Dominic, who continues to build on the values and unique culture of innovation and dedicated customer focus, first established over 55 years ago by Jan Stekly.

At SuperAlloys we envision and believe in the power of sustainability. That’s why we inspire organisations and businesses to focus on sustainable solutions, providing them with all the necessary consulting support for a zero carbon footprint. Our approach includes an assessment of the emissions produced by the organisation, as well as proposals to offset emissions equivalent to the organisation’s annual total footprint.

Innovation

Since its inception in 1966, the Welding Alloys name has become synonymous with excellence in research and development, resulting in a steady stream of new innovative products, ongoing improvement of existing ones, and the provision of advanced technical solutions and services.

Today, our R&D teams remain at the very heart of the business, able to solve complex industrial wear protection challenges by leveraging the latest scientific and leading engineering practices. Many of our technological innovations are a result of tapping into our network of academia, standard organisations, welding associations, and research partnerships across the world.

We deliver fast-tracked wear protection solutions in the most challenging environments and industries through our multidisciplinary teams located in most major centres.

Our Strengths

We remain at the forefront of relevant safety regulations, take responsibility for third party approvals of our products and provide an advisory role in production and quality control.

ISO Certified

Many years of R&D in the field of improving material performance against wear and corrosion, SuperAlloys manufactures advanced screw conveyance systems with the innovative XCLAD metallurgical structure, as a hardfacing method. Lifetime is significantly improved more than 3 times compared to the usual hardfacing materials, due to the extremely high hardness of the XCLAD composite nature.

Advantages & Properties
– Improved Materials Performance & Lifetime
